Upton in the Village

It's been a couple of (very busy) weeks, but I'm back with another post for you!  I'm the last stop on this week's Blaverry blog tour and today it's all about the updated and re-tested Upton.

Christie is updating all of her patterns and this time it's the best selling, Upton's turn.
This is a simply gorgeous dress.

The color-blocked yoke and inset back are perfect for interesting fabric pairings.  I am completely in LOVE the gray and gold together.  These two are part of Katarina Roccella's Imprint collection for Art Gallery Fabrics and came from an Etsy shop called Indeed Fabrics.  There are some gorgeous fabrics in the shop along with great prices. Check them out!

The details are perfect.  The yoke, neckband, and the hems use a twin needle, and it creates such a professional, polished looking product.  Never-mind, that I despise my twin needle, and its uncanny knack to screw up in the middle of the front of whatever I'm trying to hem.  The two of us have very different ideas of what should happen whilst hemming.

A bit more about this improved Upton.  The newly revised version includes:

• clickable table of contents
• now 3 new sleeve lengths to choose from (you can see half and long here)
• more size and garment finished measurements
• new pattern nesting for easier size blending
• instructions on how to properly select your size(s)
• instructions on how to blend sizes
• printable page to record measurements and notes
• printable design/coloring page for you and/or your kids
• re-designed pattern pieces for easier size blending

Upton is designed to be just above the knee in length and Christie makes it easy to lengthen any number of sizes you choose.  So what happened to mine? Well, I chose to go a bit shorter for more of a vintage length hem.  And apparently, my girls do not have my genes when it comes to legs.  I have a couple of pairs of matching bloomers on the table for next week.

The best part about this pattern is how quickly and easily it comes together.  It's cut, sew and Voila! About an hour later you have a fabulous new dress... or in my case two!

I think the most difficult part of this pattern is choosing how to style it when you're done.  I loved the casual look, paired with knee highs and Chucks. But the dressy look with the red lace-up ballet flats was beautiful.  So you don't feel like you're missing anything, I will now overload you with pictures of both of these looks.  Leave me a comment and let me know which way you like it styled best.

Before you go, please don't forget to check out all the other stops on this week's tour.  The ladies have put together some pretty amazing creations.
